Long life, 2D!
In my daily browsing for cool things in animation, I stumbled upon a Filmax Animation release: Donkey Xote.
I watched the trailer and, honestly, didn't liked it. Besides the fact that it looks like it's well produced, I felt it way too generic. By watching the trailer I could spot some well known jokes borrowed from studios like DreamWorks and Blur.
As I didn't know that Spanish studio, I did a research on it until I got into their website. After watching some trailers that shared the same things I felt about Donkey Xote, I gladly found a very cool one: Nocturna. Produced by Filmax and Animakids.
I strongly recommend it to all of you who wants to see a very good 2D production. Notice how carefully everything was done, from the website, to the cool character design, color palette (with some inspiration by the new classic Les Triplettes of Belleville) and an interesting story. The website is Spanish only, but it seems that an English version is coming soon.
Unfortunately I believe this production won't reach the Brazilian theaters, but I hope I can watch it on DVD. If this movie shows up in a theater near you, go watch it! =)
Congratulations to Filmax for this production. I'm in hope that their new productions could be more like Nocturna.
