About

I'm an Animation Professor at LUCA School of Arts, campus C-mine in Genk, Belgium. I teach at the Re:Anima Joint Master in Animation and I'm a senior researcher at the Inter-Actions Research Unit. My research interests include philosophy of Technics, power relations inscribed in and reinforced by technical objects, and decolonial perspectives in animation. Previously, I was an Animation Professor at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil. MFA and PhD by the Graduate Program in Arts at EBA/UFMG. I'm also a free software advocate, animator, rigger and I also like to code. You can see some of my works and know a bit more about me at:

Blender Animation Book

I've written a book about Rigging and Animation in Blender for Packt Publishing. You can get the files here.

Old Blog

Yes, I had a blog. Haven't updated it since 2011. Anyway, if you need something from there I have kept backwards compatibility and you can read it below.

Last post of the year

So, 2007 is over...

I wish you all an outstanding new year!  =)

-------------------------------

Some news...

The Disney 1933 classic "The Three Little Pigs" made into the "National Film Registry" list. This list is for  aesthetically and historically relevant films and includes live-action and animated movies such "Citizen Kane" and "One Froggy Evening". You can read more about it on Animated News. I got the image which illustrates this post on Michael Sporn's blog.

-------------------------------

Some days ago I went to watch Enchanted. I was really amazed by the quality of the animation made by James Baxter's studio. I suggest you to don't miss the chance to watch it on the big screen. To get an idea of what I'm talking about, watch a sneak peek here.

-------------------------------

Found on CGTalk an interesting link to an online animation tool. It's called Shapeshifter and, although it's pretty simple, it can be useful to practice animation principles. Watch here some cool examples of what can be done with this tool. =)
