I'm an Animation Professor at LUCA School of Arts, campus C-mine in Genk, Belgium. I teach at the Re:Anima Joint Master in Animation and I'm a senior researcher at the Inter-Actions Research Unit. My research interests include philosophy of Technics, power relations inscribed in and reinforced by technical objects, and decolonial perspectives in animation. Previously, I was an Animation Professor at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Brazil. MFA and PhD by the Graduate Program in Arts at EBA/UFMG. Old Blog

Yes, I had a blog. Haven't updated it since 2011. Anyway, if you need something from there I have kept backwards compatibility and you can read it below.

Sometime ago, I remember reading an article on John Kricfalusi's blog about color theory, where he points out that most artists nowadays are taking inspiration only from another artists, forgetting the greatest source of inspiration of all: the world around them.

After reading that article, this news and watching to this:



It's now pretty easy to conclude that we don't need to go much further to find our inspiration. The colors, gags and stories are all around us, just waiting to be into the next cartoon. =)

Ta certo cara, as melhores inspirações tão fora do que ja foi feito, é nas histórias que amigos contam, nas coisas que você ve na rua, naqueles momentos que acontece algo e vc nao para de rir. É só saber observar.

Realmente as vezes penso que falta inspiração para uma boa animação. Mas é só termos um olhar mais observador e encontramos. O mundo é feito de histórias animadas, só falta mesmo passar para o 3D ;) Abraços
